Celeste reacted with fury.
She accused him of destroying their marriage over the word of a four-year-old and two housekeepers.
Grant did not accuse her directly.
He simply said Ella was frightened in her own home.
At Leah's cottage, Ella changed almost immediately.
She slept better.
She laughed again.
One afternoon she asked Grant:
“Why did you hit Rosie?”
Grant had no answer that sounded acceptable.
“Because I was wrong.”
Ella thought about that.
“Rosie was wet because she helped me.”
The words stayed with him.
Back at the mansion, Celeste contacted Owen.
Grant was investigating the cameras.
The Bellwether sale was frozen.
The Crescent invoices were attracting attention.
They had a deadline.
