Chapter 19 - The Words She Couldn't Take BackGrant agreed to meet Celeste at the mansion.
Ella was elsewhere.
Security remained nearby.
Grant recorded the conversation.
He told Celeste their marriage was over.
Then he asked about Rosa.
Celeste initially denied everything.
But when Grant mentioned the invoices, the camera interruption and the construction footage, her control began to fracture.
“Rosa was asking questions,” Celeste finally said.
“About Crescent?”
Silence.
Grant continued.
“What did that have to do with Ella's vest?”
Celeste's face hardened.
“I only wanted to scare everyone.”
Grant stared.
“What?”
“She always ran to Rosa. Rosa was becoming a problem.”
Grant's voice dropped.
“You put holes in my daughter's life vest?”
Celeste snapped:
“It was only three tiny punctures! I didn't think it would lose air that fast!”
Silence.
Celeste realized what she had just admitted.
Grant felt as if the floor had disappeared beneath him.
“You used my four-year-old daughter to get rid of an employee?”
