And above everything else stood Celeste's own recorded words:
“It was only three tiny punctures.”
Grant sat beside Ella with her psychologist.
He told her carefully:
“I know Rosa didn't hurt you.”
Ella looked at him.
“I told you.”
Tears filled his eyes.
“Yes. You did.”
Then he said the sentence she had been waiting months to hear.
“I believe you.”
Ella immediately asked:
“Am I in trouble?”
“No.”
“Can I stop talking about the orange vest now?”
Grant pulled her gently into his arms.
