Chapter 12 - Claire Harper’s Other StudentsMore families came forward.

Not hundreds.

Seven.

Three with documentation.

One parent had kept an email.

Mrs. Harper wrote:

Your daughter responds better to firm correction than negotiation.

Another:

Some homes fail to reinforce academic respect.

Another student remembered being called “dock trash.”

Another, “maid’s kid.”

The pattern was class contempt.

Not only racial.

Not only financial.

Power.

Mrs. Harper targeted families she assumed could not fight back.

Then investigators found her private spreadsheet.

STUDENT RESPONSE PROFILE.

Names.

Parent occupations.

Discipline sensitivity.

Likely complaint risk.

Jayden’s row:

COLE, J.

Family business vulnerable.

Father reactive/protective.

Student pride linked to parents.

Rachel read it.

Nobody spoke.

There it was.

Student pride linked to parents.

Mrs. Harper had known exactly where to cut.

Jayden asked:

“Does this prove she wanted me to hit her?”

Rachel answered:

“No.”

He stared.

“It proves she identified your parents as a pressure point.”

“Same thing.”

“No.”

Jayden hated her precision.

Then she added:

“But combined with the waterfront comment, it becomes much more serious.”

That helped.

Not enough.

But helped.
