Chapter 17 - The Farm DecisionThe court denied Garrett operational control over Hollow Creek.

Sarah remained managing member.
June retained her twenty-five percent.
Elias’s trust remained untouched.
An independent co-trustee was added at Sarah’s request.
Not ordered.
Requested.
“Why?” June asked.
“Because I don’t want trust to depend on whoever happens to seem most competent.”
June nodded.
“That sounds expensive.”
“It is.”
“Good governance usually is.”
The Blue Ridge deal was not automatically rejected.
Instead, Sarah sent it for independent review.
The recommendation:
Consider a smaller forty-acre lease with no related-party side payments and stronger agricultural protections.
Blue Ridge agreed.
Sarah stared at the modified proposal.
Garrett had nearly destroyed a potentially useful deal by trying to secretly profit from it.
The farm eventually accepted the smaller lease.
Hollow Creek gained stable income.
Elias’s trust benefited proportionally.
Garrett received nothing.
That mattered.
