Chapter 7 - Aaron SpeaksAaron Blake contacted investigators himself.

His parents did not stop him.
He gave a statement with his attorney present.
The truth was different from rumors.
Lucas had not attacked him alone.
Three boys participated.
It began as intimidation.
They wanted Aaron to stop talking about what Lucas claimed regarding the bypass.
Aaron refused.
The confrontation escalated.
He fell.
Then was kicked.
Lucas did not deliver every blow.
But he did not stop it.
Aaron originally intended to report everything.
Then Richard Parker approached his father.
Not directly about silence.
He offered to purchase the farm.
Above its current agricultural value.
He also helped arrange the $47,500 foundation payment for medical expenses.
Aaron’s father accepted.
Then told Aaron:
“We finally have a way out.”
The Blakes were drowning financially.
Debt.
Equipment repairs.
His mother’s medical bills.
Aaron understood.
The family asked him not to “destroy the deal.”
He changed his statement.
Not because Richard explicitly threatened him.
Because the money changed what truth would cost his family.
That distinction was important.
And devastating.
David listened to Elena explain.
“Not every corrupt outcome begins with a direct bribe.”
Sometimes everyone simply understands the price of speaking.
Aaron’s father later admitted:
“I sold the farm because I was desperate.”
Then cried.
“I also let my son think his pain was worth six hundred thousand dollars.”

No villain.
Just another parent making a terrible choice while calling it protection.
