Chapter 19 - Rosa’s Choice

Rosa had stayed with Noah for three years after the dinner.

Then she resigned.

Not because of conflict.

Because she wanted to open a childcare center.

Ethan offered to fund it.

Rosa said no.

He was offended.

Emily laughed.

“You really are your mother’s son.”

Ethan corrected himself.

“What do you need?”

“A loan I can repay.”

They structured one through a community-development fund at market-friendly terms.

Not a gift.

Not control.

Rosa’s center opened near a working-class neighborhood.

Its philosophy included a simple rule:

Children were never punished with food.

Vivian attended opening day.

That surprised Rosa.

Vivian handed her flowers.

“No check?”

Rosa teased.

Vivian smiled.

“I was instructed to behave.”

They both laughed.

Then Vivian became serious.

“You protected my grandson from me.”

Rosa’s eyes filled.

“I protected a child.”

“Exactly.”

Vivian thanked her.

Rosa accepted.
