Chapter 15 - Blake’s Consequences
Principal Blake resigned before termination proceedings concluded.
The state reviewed his administrator credential.
He agreed to an administrative settlement:
Credential suspension.
Ethics training.
Prohibition on certain leadership roles for a period.
No evidence supported criminal theft by him.
Parents wanted harsher consequences.
Emily understood.
But facts set limits.
Blake lost the assistant-superintendent opportunity.
Lost his principalship.
Lost the reputation he protected by avoiding conflict.
The irony was complete.
Before leaving, he asked to meet Emily.
She agreed with Rachel present.
“I failed you.”
“Yes.”
“I thought protecting programs protected students.”
Emily said:
“You protected the programs from students.”

That sentence stayed with him.
