Chapter 11 - The False Narrative Collapses

Mrs. Harrison’s disciplinary hearing began.

Her attorney tried to frame the lunch incident as a temporary emotional breakdown.

The district presented:

Video.

Grade logs.

Conflict forms.

Laptop spreadsheet.

Financial invoices.

Past complaints.

Not one breakdown.

Pattern.

Evelyn testified.

“I was under enormous pressure.”

“From whom?”

“Parents.”

“Did Emily pressure you?”

“She flaunted her ranking.”

“How?”

“She knew Mason cared.”

“Did she taunt him?”

Evelyn hesitated.

“No documented instances.”

“Any witnesses?”

“No.”

The story depended on motive she attributed to a child.

No evidence.

Then they played the video.

“How dare you take first place away from my son?!”

Her own words destroyed the neutral-discipline argument.

The district terminated her employment.

Effective immediately.

Separate state licensing proceedings began.

Evelyn left through the same side door she had used months earlier.

This time no reporters waited.

The scandal was already moving on.

She found that worse.
