Chapter 23 - Daniel at the Airport Again

Daniel returned to the same airport for another business trip.
Dallas.
One suitcase.
Phone vibrated.
For a split second his body remembered.
Monica video.
Ethan crying.
Riding crop.
He stopped.
Opened message.
Ethan.
Video.
Willow running in pasture.
Ethan laughing behind camera.
Text:
She finally beat Copper to the gate.
Daniel smiled.
Same airport.
Same phone.
Different video.
His jaw did not tighten.
No anger.
He watched twice.
Then replied:
Tell her I always believed in her.
Ethan:
Liar. You bet $20 on Copper.
Daniel laughed aloud.
A traveler glanced over.
He kept walking.
Trauma memory had not vanished.
It had gained competition.
New associations.
